Tofu Stir-Fry a la General Tso

The Good General was known to like like the fermented bean chunks too.

What You’re Gonna Need:

  • 1 container (13 oz?) Extra Firm Tofu, diced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 cup Broccoli Florets chopped into bite-size pieces cut in bite-size pieces
  • 1/2 Orange or Red Bell Pepper cored, seeded, 1/2-inch dice (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1/2 Tbsp peeled and minced Garlic
  • 1/2 Tbsp peeled and minced Ginger
  • 2 Tbsp trimmed minced green onion whites and the green parts thinly sliced for garnish minced green onion whites, green parts thinly sliced, for garnish
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup sauce in the style of General Tso
  • 1/2 Tbsp (roasted) sesame seeds

What Ya Gotta Do:

  • Let’s blanche, babies!
  • Add tofu to large pot boiling water; blanch 2 min. Drain; set aside.
  • Return water to boil; add broccoli. Blanch 2 min. Drain; set aside.
  • Heat a (preferably) stir-fry pan on medium heat.
  • Add oil and red peppers. Cook, stirring, 2 min.
  • Add that garlic, ginger, minced green onion whites, and red pepper flakes; cook, stirring, about 1 min until soft but not browned.
  • Add tofu and stir it all up.
  • While increasing heat to high, add the Good General’s sauce. Cook, stirring, about 1 min until tofu is glazed.
  • Add zee broccoli and cook, stirring, 30 sec.
  • Plop it into a bowl and garnish with thinly sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  • EAT IT!
